Caring for Youth who have Experienced Trauma: A Training for Foster/Adoptive Parents

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has created a series of trainings for foster parents about working with youth who have experienced trauma. Cambridge Family & Children’s Service and Communities For People have partnered to offer those to foster and adoptive parents. This curriculum provides specifics for addressing challenging behaviors and how to better understand the youth in your home. Topics include: How to ensure youth feel physically/emotionally safe, Understanding the emotion behind the behavior, Working with trauma reminders, Self-Care. Two sessions will be offered:

Session 1: on Fridays
Part 1 – Jan. 12 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 2 - Jan. 26 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 3 – Feb. 02 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 4 –Feb. 09 (10:00am – 3:00pm)

Session 2: on Saturdays
Part 1 – Mar. 17 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 2 - Mar. 24 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 3 – Mar. 31 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Part 4 –Apr. 07 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
